CART/Champ Car's foremost embassador and supporter, accomplished race car driver and iconic movie actor, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. He was 83.

Mr. Newman was a racer who supported his racing habit by acting. That's how he wanted to be remembered, but I will also remember him as being a man who lived life on his own terms and didn't give two cents about fame, recognition or how people thought about him. A true gentleman, humanitarian, movie star and a "real" race car driver in every sense.

I, along with the all the members of the One18 Racing Message Board, wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Paul's wife, Joanne and their family.

I, along with countless many, will miss you, Mr. Newman.
