If you are a fan of Gilles Villeneuve, I also have a section on my website as a tribute to this fallen hero.
After collecting 1:18 scale cars for more than 20 years, I maintain this site as a means for me to share my passion for these miniature race cars with others . It came as no surprise that I found there are others online who share my passion for racing and collecting these cars. My goal is simply to provide fellow collectors and enthusiasts with resources and information pertaining to these diecast replicas.

Sempre Gilles
Gilles Villeneuve 1950 - 1982
The month of May has it's share of days marked in tragedy for those who follow the racing world. One date that resonates profoundly to most is May 8th. On this date in 1982, the world lost the immensely popular Ferrari pilot, Gilles Villeneuve.
Every year on this date, I find myself solemnly remembering this unique driver and what he brought to Formula One during his brief but stellar career. Every year, I place a tribute on the main page of One18 Racing.com for visitors to share in remembering Gilles. I have a dedicated area here aptly named, Remembering Gilles.
This year, I will only say… Sempre Gilles.

It has been 15 years ago today that the racing world lost one of its best. On this date in 1994 at the San Marino Grand Prix, 3 time world champion, Ayrton Senna lost his life to the sport of Formula One under circumstances that are still being debated to this day. He died when on lap seven, his Williams was seen to lose traction twice at the rear then go off the track at Tamburello corner and striking an unprotected concrete barrier.
Senna was arguably one of the best modern day F1 drivers who had legions of fans who loved the Brazilian for his emotional driving the style with as many who loathed him for his misconstrued arrogance on the race track. Love him or not, Senna was in a league of his own. His impressive record of 41 wins out of 162 races started and 65 poles - cut short only due to his untimely death.
Senna set the bar for discipline and concentration a driver must bring into the cockpit of a race car. His total focus started well before the cars rolled off the start line and well after the race was completed. He cemented the notion that F1 has no room for drivers who are not completely 100% committed to winning.
Ayrton has no doubt left his mark on the sport of motor racing, transcending the boundaries of many disciplines from go karts to F1. Many young drivers starting in the sport want to grow up to be just like him - one of them includes the current F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton.
Formula One still remembers and mourns it's brightest star and it will be quite a while before the influence of Ayrton Senna is relegated to the history books.
